Color is connecting us all over the world!<\/div>\n<p>Wendy Moore, an Australian rehab therapist and\u00a0artist, is working with the non-profit group <a href=\"http:\/\/acolourfuljourney.com\/about\/\">Summanat Nepal <\/a>to help women who have experienced domestic violence. Cynthia Tinapple\u00a0is generously\u00a0building their website and through <a href=\"http:\/\/polymerclaydaily.com\/?s=nepal\">PolymerClayDaily<\/a> we are now linked to\u00a0this new sisterhood of polymer clay artists in Nepal.<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/maggiemaggio.com\/color\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/nepal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 0pt none; margin-left: 4px; margin-right: 4px;\" title=\"nepal\" src=\"https:\/\/maggiemaggio.com\/color\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/nepal.jpg\" alt=\"nepal\" width=\"248\" height=\"327\" \/><\/a>After seeing Carol Simmons magnetic board idea and reading about naming colors based on personal responses, Wendy recently sent\u00a0this email to Cynthia.<\/div>\n<div>&#8220;We had a funny day confirming colour recipes and thinking of colour names.\u00a0Getting the ladies beyond &#8220;green&#8221;, &#8220;red&#8221; (and good lord wasn&#8217;t that an all-encompassing one!!??) &#8220;yellow&#8221; etc was tricky but now we have our own version of the Simmons chart with (in Nepali):<\/div>\n<div>green (ocean which none of them have actually seen)<\/div>\n<div>green (parrot)<\/div>\n<div>green (rice paddy)<\/div>\n<div>green (main)<\/div>\n<div>blue (main)<\/div>\n<div>blue (sky)<\/div>\n<div>blue (the colour of the stuff you put into white clothes that is meant to make them white but consistently makes them mauve but continues to be used faithfully by generations of mothers of white uniformed school children-in Nepali &#8220;nir&#8221;)<\/div>\n<div>red (tikka)<\/div>\n<div>red (brick) etc<\/div>\n<div>Oh it was so fun!&#8221;<\/div>\n<p>When I showed this to a good friend she gave me this poem:<\/p>\n<div>Colors\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 My skin is kind of, sort of, brownish, pinkish, yellow-ish, white. My eyes are grayish, blueish-green, but I&#8217;m told they look orange at night. My hair is reddish, blondish brown but its silver when its wet. And all the colors I am inside have not been invented yet.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Thank you to Wendy and Cynthia for sharing this beautiful and inspiring work!
