Its deeply comforting in these dark days to know that many of my treasured Christmas traditions are rewoven rites from the Roman Saturnalia, the Northern European Yule, and the Celtic solstice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We are connected through time to ancient ceremonies that speak to the universal desire for fertility and health in the coming year.\u00a0The days when the sun is furthest from the earth are filled with light, gift giving, and decorating with greens.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">No matter what your traditions are this time of year &#8211; I wish you peace, joy and light.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On this shortest day of the year 2012, I celebrate the return of the light, and reflect on the interconnections that tie us all together.
