It was at the National Polymer Clay Guild retreat in the spring of &#8217;95.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image401\" title=\"fimochart1995.jpg\" style=\"width: 212px; height: 286px\" alt=\"fimochart1995.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/maggiemaggio.com\/color\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/fimochart1995.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/>I\u00a0brought\u00a0copies of a\u00a0color mixing chart for Fimo that I was selling as a fundraiser for my daughter&#8217;s 6th grade class.<\/p>\n<p>The kids\u00a0made all the mixes as part of a lesson I gave on color. This is just nine of the 21 &#8220;tiles&#8221; that they mixed. We made all the combinations of Fimo Yellow, Golden Yellow, Red, Magenta, Bordeaux, Blue, Light Turquoise and Navy.<\/p>\n<p>In return\u00a0for their collaborative help, I promised them all the proceeds from the sale. What did I get out of it?\u00a0 The original chart!<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image403\" title=\"fimochart1995detail1.jpg\" style=\"width: 142px; height: 210px\" alt=\"fimochart1995detail1.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/maggiemaggio.com\/color\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/fimochart1995detail1.jpg\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I made the tiles from gray clay and cut out the holes before baking them. I hadn&#8217;t figured out how to make color scales yet so each tile showed the 1\/2, 3\/4\u00a0and 7\/8 mixes between two colors\u00a0with each of those colors then mixed with 1\/2 and 3\/4 white. Here is\u00a0the tile with\u00a0Fimo Bordeaux mixed with Golden Yellow.<\/p>\n<p>Once we settled into our tables at the retreat it\u00a0only took a few minutes before someone said, &#8220;You have to meet Lindly. She loves mixing colors too.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And in the meantime someone said to Lindly, &#8220;You need to go see Margaret&#8217;s color\u00a0chart.&#8221;\u00a0(I was called Margaret way back then.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We met in the middle of the room, color samples in hand.
