The flag exercise is a fun way to see the six different options for three colors in a simple design.\u00a0To be effective, all three colors need to be visible when the flag is flying on top of a capitol building. \u00a0As you can see not all options are equally successful.<\/p>\n

After analyzing the flags it was off to the tables to work on test samples for future projects.<\/p>\n

Judy was inspired by images from the Herschel telescope. The four 8″ x 8″\u00a0encaustic panels are the beginning of a project on the colors and imagery of distant times.<\/p>\n

Alison’s work area proved too small for making the final project so she relocated to her printmaking studio for the rest of the day. \u00a0The resulting prints were inspired by a new palette that includes magenta and orange.<\/p>\n

Wynn worked on her collection of many paintings, adding depth by playing with light and shadow.<\/p>\n

The last day went by too quickly. I think everyone was just getting into the zone when we gathered around the big table for the final review. \u00a0Although all ten of us were tired from four days of learning new things about color – it was a good tired.
