This seminal book came out in the summer of 2009 and over the years has become a classic reference for polymer artists and anyone interested in learning about color using polymer clay.<\/p>\n<p>If you have not had the chance to sit down and do the exercises and projects in the book now is your chance.<\/p>\n<p>Come spend the day with co-author Maggie Maggio as she guides you through the second chapter in the book &#8220;Understanding the Three Properties of Color&#8221; while testing the 14 colors of the new Cernit Metallics.<\/p>\n<p>Once you go through the exercises and make a variation of the first project in the book, you will be excited to jump into color testing and explorations in any brand of clay and in any\u00a0medium!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Exercises:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Exercise 1: Package Color Testing<br \/>\nExercise 2: Value Sorting<br \/>\nExercise 3: Mixing Pivot Tiles<\/p>\n<p>T<strong>h<a href=\"https:\/\/maggiemaggio.com\/color\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Cernit-Metallics-e1542572429548.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7776 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/maggiemaggio.com\/color\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Cernit-Metallics-e1542572429548.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"463\" \/><\/a>e Project:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe project will be a new variation of the pivot beads project in Chapter 2 &#8211; Pivot Bracelets! Learn how to use Maggie&#8217;s signature ColorWash technique with striped canes to make a collection of bracelets in the limited palette of the metallic clays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practicing Color Scales:<\/strong><br \/>\nWhile the bracelets are curing, Maggie will take you through the first part of Chapter Five of the book &#8220;Mixing Colors That Flow&#8221; and demonstrate the steps of making Color Scales in polymer clay. They are gorgeous in the metallics and\u00a0much easier than it looks in the book!<\/p>\n<p>You will be able to make at least one color scale in class.\u00a0 Warning: Making color scales can be addictive!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials Provided<\/strong>: Polymer clay,\u00a0 square cutters, bamboo skewers, bracelet forms<br \/>\n<strong>Students Bring<\/strong>: Pasta machine, work surface, blade, roller, make-up brush.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Class Length:<\/strong>\u00a0 One Day.\u00a0 Six hours of instruction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructor Fee:<\/strong>\u00a0$75\/student plus travel and lodging. Home stay is fine. T<strong>he total cost is dependent on site expenses and is determined by the hosting organization.\u00a0\u00a0If possible, the polymer will be donated.
