My color explorations are takng off in many new directions in 2018! No Images? Click here COLOR EXPLORER NEWS - February 2018I searched and searched and finally found this old slide of polymer pioneer Tory Hughes teaching at Karen Murphy's house on Whidbey Island, WA in the mid 1990's. Those were exciting times. Everyone was experimenting with what this new medium could do. And we are still experimenting. This week started with shocking news. On Sunday I received a text that Tory Hughes had passed away that morning. She was battling cancer but I did not expect her to leave us so soon. Her passing leaves a huge hole not only in the polymer community but in the greater art world as well. I believe, I know, that Tory lived and died on her own terms - fully committed to expressing creativity with each breath. Her love of life and her deeply felt art will continue to inspire everyone who knew her. May we all live life as fully. Winter Workshop UpdateAfter four days at Creative World in Frankfurt, it was off to London to teach the first of three trial runs of my latest workshop. I'm still not sure what this new workshop will be called - Sculptural Color or Structural Color - but the basic idea is the same: have fun exploring color in 3D while playing with polymer. I am so grateful to my hosts on this trip: All the workshops were filled with enthusiastic and talented artists who shared lots of helpful feedback. We learned how to customize the projects for each person and how use the new Kolormondo Mini Globe to audition colors for a palette. Look for the details in the next newsletter! TOMORROW!!
